Top side. The plywood are placed at each end of the dolly to create a flat surface and wheel base making it possible to mount the wheels onto the aluminum tube. The shoelaces secure the camera and tripod in place. The different locations for the shoelaces were determined based on the measurements of my tripod legs. This allows me to secure my tripod when the legs are at its lowest point as well as when fully extended.
