Shooting From the Inside Out
Now, if you’re
shooting from inside the car and getting coverage of your
actors, then expose for the outside light. For example, let’s
say the camera operator is sitting in the backseat of the car
while shooting towards the driver and the passenger seats in
front of him. In this instance, it would be more favorable to
let the DVX 100 gauge the light for you by using the AUTO iris
function and staying with that setting; reason being because
it’s the outside light that makes up the majority of the objects
in the lens.
Now, if
you’re shooting your actors in a convertible, then it’s obvious
that light isn’t too much of an issue. But if you have a hood
mounted camera shooting through the windshield, you’d want to
see: “DVX100 Exposure through Windshield and Windows”
EZ NOTE: set the DVX100 iris in AUTO mode, point it towards the
actors in the front seats and lock that f-stop with the MANUAL
iris mode.
