Take Your Time
and Remember to Have Fun
A misconception
among first-time DVX digital filmmakers is that you have to shoot
everything all at once as fast as you can. There’s no rule saying
that you should or shouldn’t, but if your concern is making your
film fast versus making your film solid, then you wouldn’t have to
worry. However, for those directors who desire to pace their DVX
movie with a more cinematic form and structure, then take as much
time as you can to nurture it.
We’ve seen all too
often the amateur short films on Myspace and Youtube that look like
they were shot in a hurry and without planning. This justifies all
reasons for non-believers to negatively pigeonhole all DIY DVX100
projects. It’s still an uphill battle since we try to create,
produce and finish a good project virtually by ourselves.
Unfortunately the truth is that we just don’t have as much time as
we’d like to devote to the project while also dealing with our
everyday real life issues.
As the saying
goes, “Anything worth doing is worth doing right”. If you’re going
to spend time, energy and in some cases money on your digital film
production, take some time to make it a project worth doing and do
it the best you can with what you have to work with. You’ll be
surprised!
Do
YOU have a cheap, low budget, do-it-yourself DVX100 tip or trick that
you'd like to contribute?
If so, just email it to
us and we'll post it up!
Thanks
for helping the grass roots grow!
