Iris Exposure through Windshields and Windows
by John Sims
If you’re
scene requires a shot of your actors inside a car or behind a
window, then you’ll need a polarizer filter for your DVX 100 to
reduce the glare of the glass. This will make the objects behind
the glass significantly more visible. This will also improve
hood and door mounted camera shots aimed through the windshield,
for example to expose actors inside a car.
But – if
exposing the people in the car doesn’t matter at all, for example,
such as an establishing shot of the car driving along a road, then
simply don’t use a polarizer and the natural light will provide a
glare that will be enough to conceal the features of those inside
the car.
EZ Note: Polarizer Filter = No Glare.
No Polarizer Filter = Glare.
